CUFF-GUARD

We manufacture disposable, protective covers for blood pressure cuffs. We make 6 standard sizes and will custom make any size needed. The covers we make would prevent cross contamination due to blood, chemical or biological agents. One single blood pressure cuff can cross contaminated multiple patients . When you take off your gloves the cuff can now contaminate you. Hepatitis B can remain virulent for up to 2 weeks in dried blood. SARS has shown that many diseases can be spread by contact. The low cost and ease of use of the Cuff-Guard makes it a necessity when treating multiple patients.

What is Cuff-Guard®?

Cuff-Guard® is a protective cover made specifically as an effective, low cost solution to blood pressure cuff contamination. Each Cuff-Guard® is made from a soft, white spun plastic with an inner impervious plastic coating. This material made by Tyvex® provides a safe bacterial barrier and is 100% latex free.

Should I use Cuff-Guard®?

Cuff-Guard® was designed to be easily used. It attaches to any cuff in less than 30 seconds and does not require any disassembly of your apparatus. The white surface will show contamination but can easily be wiped clean. Cuff-Guard® is both strong and durable. The cost of this effective product is about a ninth of what a normal disposable vinyl cuff costs.With the use of Cuff-Guard® one hospital reported a 50% reduction in nosocomial infections. with the use of Cuff-Guard®.

How to use Cuff-Guard®?

Step 1: Place cover with velcro and label side up on a flat surface. Place blood pressure cuff inside the Cuff-Guard® cover (like placing a letter into an envelope). The BP cuff tubing needs to exit on the RIGHT side.

Step 2: Remove the liner on the bottom edge of the cover to expose the two sided tape. Seal the cover over the cuff by pressing the top and bottom edges together. The tape will seal around the existing cuff tubing.

Step 3: Place the artery here location in the appropriate position. Wrap the protected BP cuff around the arm and secure with the velcro tab.
